Basic Guidelines

  • WHO CAN APPLY?
  • Eligibility criteria (Education & Employment): Early Career Researchers with the following will be considered eligible:

    • Master’s in Science/Bachelors in Engineering (4 years)
    • Regular positions or job contract* in academia/research institution/industry; or
    • Employment contract* with their Parent organisation while being enrolled for PhD in universities/research organisations. iven to applicants with more than 4 years experience at institutions/organizations/industry in Germany.
    • Long-term nationally recognized fellowships* (4 years and above) are considered.
    • For German side, preference will be given to applicants with more than 4 years experience at institutions/organizations/industry in Germany.

    Note: *Applicants should have a valid employment tenure/residual fellowship for a minimum period of 18 months commencing from the application deadline.

    Age Limit: Up to 40 years as on application deadline of the particular Call.

  • HOW TO FORM A PAIR?
    • Applicants shall form a pair consisting of one early career researcher from India and Germany holding a regular position in academia/research institution/industry or holding a long-term nationally recognized fellowship.
    • Applicants are solely responsible for identifying and forming their respective pairs and obtaining requisite permissions/clearances from Host Institute.
  • FINANCIAL SUPPORT
    • Fellowship: € 2300 per month/ fellow (on pro rata basis). However, the fellowship shall be considered depending upon the actual stay of the awardee in the host country. While computing the fellowship, 30 days in a month shall be considered on pro rata basis.
    • Travel: € 1500 for both Indian and German awardees which includes the following:

      • Single round trip economy class international airfare.
      • Visa fees
      • Medical/health/travel insurance policy
      • Airport transfer international & domestic
      • Cost of travel for networking visits to organisations in host country during the visit.
  • HOW TO APPLY?
  • Application must be submitted online via “Application Portal” by the Paired applicants. Submissions by other means may not be accepted.

    • Please check your eligibility before applying for the fellowship.
    • Application must be submitted online via “Application Portal”.
    • To start the online application, you and your paired applicant must register on the portal first using your email addresses. Please enter a correct working email addresses during registration, as it will send a link for verification.
    • Once the registrations are completed, one applicant can login and start the PECFAR application. The one who starts the application in the portal (from the Pair) will be known as the Primary applicant.
    • The Primary Applicant adds the Paired Applicant from India/Germany in the application. The Paired Applicant will receive a link to log in and fill their part of the application.
    • In case you do not receive the emails, please check your ‘SPAM’ or ‘JUNK’ folder. If you still fail to find the email, please raise a ticket at ‘Get Help’ or ‘Contact Us’ in the IGSTC Application Portal.
    • Both fellows (from India and Germany) must individually complete their parts of the application and save it as a draft version. The final submission of the application will be done by the Primary Applicant only.
    • It is the responsibility of the Primary applicant to make sure that the application is completed by the Paired Applicant before final submission.
    • Applicants must strictly follow the instructions given for application submission. Failure to do so may result in the rejection of the application.
  • DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR APPLICATION SUBMISSION
    • No Objection Certificate
    • Proof of Date of Birth (Scan copy of Passport/ Aadhar Card)
    • Proof of Education Qualifications arranged in reverse chronological order
    • Proof of Current Employment/Fellowship with active contract duration
  • EVALUATION
  • A Joint Scientific Committee of experts will evaluate the applications based on the following criteria:

    • Relevance and potential to foster relevant and long-term Indo-German partnership
    • Compatibility of the Pair
    • Proposed work plan and feasibility
    • Value addition to the host organization and country

    The decision of the Committee shall be final and binding.

  • CONDITIONS & REQUIREMENTS
    • The applicants shall submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Head/Authorised Signatory of the Parent Institution at the time of the application.
    • Applicants must define a detailed activity plan mentioning their objective, work plan and expected outcomes for the duration of the fellowship in the application.
    • IGSTC grant is only for covering monthly fellowship on pro-rata basis, round trip-fare, visa, and travel/medical insurance.
    • The Pair must complete their visits within 12 months from the intimation of the PECFAR Award.
    • Applicants are advised to check the travel/Visa conditions with India and Germany.
    • Request for extension in the duration of the Fellowship shall not be entertained.
    • The fellows will abide by the conduct, rules, and regulations of the Paired organization & the country. IGSTC will not be responsible for violation of any Rules & Regulations by him/her.
    • Each of the Awardees of the Pair must submit UC/SE along with the Attendance Report in the prescribed format at the end of their visits.
    • Within 4 weeks of completion of the Fellowship, the Awardees must submit a detailed consolidated Fellowship completion report endorsed by the host institutions in the prescribed format along with representative photos to IGSTC.
    • The fellows must recognize and acknowledge the IGSTC fellowship in all online/print documents, communications, reports, publications, etc. on work resulting from the fellowship.
